back to merida, and we took a wander down the main boulevard of the city, paseo de montejo. the boulevard is quite massive (three lanes each side) and lined with modern art from all over the world. it's not as busy as i'm sure the local government would hope, but if anyone ever wants, there are heaps of restaurants and interesting things to look at along the street. this sculpture is up a fair way, probably around seven (big) blocks, and pays homage to the mayan culture. some guys took the flag down just after we finished taking photos, so that was good timing. we got this one about an hour before sunset.
