they only had four players last time, so we had a comfortable (ish) win (even though we didn't win by much). again, we play them at the dreaded 10.15 slot, and this time, it was a typically tough encounter, they had a full lineup, and despite leading at half time (by about six points), we went down (somewhat controversially again) 36-37. the score at the buzzer was 35-35, simon missed, then made a free throw, so we thought we had won, but on closer analysis of the score sheet, it turned out we lost, again. they were typically physical, and pounded the ball inside, and also made some outside shots too.
we did ok with our interior defence, but did let a couple of back door plays through, rebounding, our main weakness, was probably as good as it gets. simon was on fire in the first half, and scored most of our points, he slowed down in the second half, as did most of the team, but it was still tight. we weren't able to hold on to the lead, but managed to fight back, and make some crucial plays on defence, to play out what we thought was a hard fought win.
i was pretty ordinary, some costly turnovers, and some decidedly un-clutch field goal misses, and some lapses on defence. i just didn't have it in the second half, despite feeling reasonable. one more note, we had that hopeless woman ref (with the thick glasses), and as usual (although this week she was at the extreme of her capabilities), she was hopeless, missing calls, confusing calls, making stupid calls. it didn't affect the outcome, but it's just annoying.
i scored eight points, and missed my only free throw, season tallies, 166 points, and 30/51 from the line. we drop to 10-6 for the season, but probably stay in the top four for now. i go on my holiday now, on a three game losing streak on wednesdays (very disappointing), and with a sense of frustration.
man, that must suck when the scoreboard says you've won and then the score sheets say you've lost.

yeah, i don't know what's been going on, cos i don't do the scoresheet ever, but my team was doing the scoresheet, so we can't say they cheated or anything, the most annoying thing, is that everyone is playing to the scoreboard, which really means nothing, except for how many fouls a team has in the half (which could just as likely be wrong).
