finally, after a six week wait, my m42 to k mount adapter arrived today at work. it's not much to look at, just a small ring that you insert into the camera lens mount before attaching a lens, but i hope it gives me the opportunity to try some otherwise incompatible lenses. it allows my k100d to use old lenses made for pentax film cameras (in the old m42 mount) using the k mount. alf has a couple of these lenses that i can play with, so it should be fun having a go and seeing what they can do. who knows, some awesome lens might show up on ebay or something that i can grab for a bargain.
i can't wait to give it a try, the lenses are manual focus only (of course), since they are so old, but i'm pretty sure i'd also only look for primes, which would make that easier, especially considering you have to set the focal length of a lens (mf only) in the camera so that it knows how the shake reduction should work. anyways, should be able to give it a try this weekend, i'll prolly post a gallery or two if i'm able to work out how to use them, and obviously if there are any decent pictures

went over to alf's place yesterday, and had a play with his vivitar f/2.8 135mm m42 lens. worked pretty well, took me a while to work out that it had to be stopped down to f/8 or so, and to reduce the exposure, but i think i got a couple of nice pics. will post a gallery shortly, stupidly, i didn't take a picture of the lens though, i'll add that sometime.
