we lost to these guys by 3 points last time around, this time, we didn't have simon, or lawrence, so it was gonna be tough. but we've been in good form, and just had to concentrate and work hard. it was a tight first half, we managed to take a five point lead at 17-12. we tried to force their main guy to take contested shots and outside jump shots, rather than letting him drive and get layups. we did ok, but could've done better (i was a bit tired on my side). they made a run at the start of the second half, and took the lead 21-22, at which point we called a timeout.
it was a good timeout, cos we came out of it scoring, and re-took the lead, and managed to hang on till the end, and take a tough 37-33 win (i'll update the score later). despite the heroics of their top player (he knocked down to monster threes in the last couple of minutes, one from about 35 ft), we hung on, with gordon knocking down some free throws. the refereeing was pretty dodgy, one of the refs (might've been his first game by without an extra senior to guide him), missed several calls, and made several wrong decisions (both ways). it was a good win, gordon knocked down heaps of nice jump shots, andy and wills made some nice shots inside, and kang banked a big three. we'll take the win at this point of the season, just keep getting them, then worry about the finals later.
i scored ten points, and didn't shoot any free throws (although i should've had at least one on an and-1, and maybe a second (which was, admittedly soft)). season tallies, 115 points, free throws steady at 21/36. our record moves on to 9-2, and we will at least stay in second spot.
