we caught the late session of the pirates last night, hopefully it's the last one
. i wasn't sure exactly what to expect as i had heard that it was overly long and confusing, but the previous two were good, so this probably wasn't going to stray too far from the tree. it was quite long, almost three hours, but i didn't think that there were any real obvious parts where i felt that it was going on and on (like king kong). as far as the film, overall, i thought it was quite good, probably not as good as the original, or the sequel, but it was pretty good even with the slightly confusing side switching going on.
as far as the costumes, graphics, scenery, etc. which i like to collectively describe as the visuals, they were very good, as good as any film that i can remember. davy jones looked very cool, and the crabs in the desert were really cool (slightly mac like) too. as mentioned though, the confusing part was basically with the main pirates, barbosa (geoffrey rush), jack sparrow, and chow yun fat's character, making deals with the british navy guy. it was hard to follow who was with who. also, when the lovely couple were getting married, that was pretty thing.
the ending was sort of open-ended, but they did kill off all the baddies, so perhaps there won't be another sequel. so, overall, the film was pretty good, and hopefully they decide not to make another sequel, anything more, would be purely and simply to make more money (as opposed to the other two sequels
).
