unfortunately, i'm gonna keep this one short, as it's "late", and i'm tired. it is unfortunate, because it's worth a good long post, in a thriller (against a new team, as far as we were concerned), we sneaked home 40-39, to stay near the top of the ladder. we were trailing 16-24 at the half, and were lacking intensity, and playing poorly on defence. we just allowed them way too many offensive rebounds, and open shots. we managed to pull it back a bit early in the second half, but they stretched the lead back to 39-30 with about two minutes to play.
we were already playing a box-and-one zone (if you don't know what that means look it up 
), and started to apply some full court pressure. it definitely rattled them, as we were able to force some turnovers and rushed shots, which we were able to convert at the other end. first, gordon hit a three, then, either simon or gordon hit another one to bring it to 36-39. on our next possession, andy was chasing down a missed shot, got fouled (they were in the penalty), and made two free throws.
with some more pressure, they rushed another shot with about twenty seconds to go. it missed, i slapped the rebound to the top of the key, and simon and andy were on a 2-on-1 break. simon fed it to andy, who couldn't get the shot to drop, but made his free throws to put us up one, 40-39 with about fifteen seconds left. we forced another missed shot, and were able to scramble the ball away from their basket to steal the win, 40-39.
i scored 13, (nine in the first half), and was 1/2 (first one in and out 
) from the line. season tallies, 78 points, 14/24 from the line 
, we move on to 6-1 for the season, which is six games better than the same time last season 
.
