raw therapee: basic review

19th-may-2007 - posted by dtra

another review based item, and on the same day, and not based on a movie, what has the world come to? anyways, just thought i'd get the word out on this very nice raw converter (for raw image files taken from digital cameras). powerful, fast, and easy to use, would be all things that i am unqualified to state about this application, as i can't compare it to anything else, other than the pentax photo laboratory software that came with my camera. i certainly think it gives more control, and flexibility than the pentax program, and is easier to use, but i can't really say too much about the end-processing because i never really got used to ppl, and didn't really use it past a week (i didn't like the interface).

i haven't used lightroom, silkypix, or any of the other major raw converters, so i wouldn't really know what to say in comparison. all i can say, is that this is a nice piece of software, and it makes converting my raw photos that much easier.

no, it's not open source, it's written by one very dedicated individual in hungary, so hats off to the man, gabor. i was waiting for the current release especially because it finally fixes the exif data bug, and i could submit one of my grampians pictures to be the abc weather background smiley. so happy with the program, i donated some money to the cause, hopefully it will help gabor produce a very professional and complete product (which eventually is open sourced, so that we can all still enjoy it for free, or he sells it on, either way, i have my free copy, i don't need anymore updates smiley).

is this a photography or review item? i wish i made it so that categories could be many to one, not many to many, something to change? maybe, but i'll post it to reviews for now (considering i chucked it in the title).
