spiderman 3: review/synopsis

ok, so we decided to catch spiderman 3, i've only seen parts of the first and second films (and to be honest, much preferred the marvel cartoons). i had heard some not so great things about it, so i didn't have the highest of expectations (it was too long, there are slow parts, etc.). the start wasn't great, it seemed to go on a bit, and to be honest the whole film (apart from the action sequences) seemed to be a bit like that. there were parts that just didn't seem to fit, and either seemed like filler, or just didn't really affect the movie in a positive way.

ok, so mary jane is upset that her career sucks, and peter is getting all the attention, and he doesn't really know what is going on with her, but i don't think you need to make such a long winded story out of it. peter parker turning emo (with heaps of confidence) when the alien possessed him, didn't work for me. anyways, the special effects were good, although the "indestructible sand man" was a little over the top i think. he couldn't be killed/beaten, and he could fly (he was the sandman, not the wind and sand man). even turning him to glass didn't work, it just seemed that he could continually get a hold of sand and that would turn into him, he was just misunderstood?

anyways, venom looked cool, but didn't really work, in the cartoon, i'm sure it was some spaceman (astronaut) that became venom, so he wasn't actually a bad guy, like that photographer guy (eddy brock jr, they may have got combined him with carnage, the venom derivative) was. at the end, the screen kept going black, and i thought it was finished, but then another scene would come up (this happened twice i think). i can't say that i liked the film too much, the special effects, yeah, they were pretty cool, but aside from that, it wasn't very good.
