ok, so just got back from my sky diving adventure in cordoba, and i am seriously still on the adrenaline high. i'll just throw this in for the search engines, the company (cepac paracaidismo) we went with (well, the hostel called), they were pretty cool for the most part, but the driver (pablo), he turned out to be a thief, the transfer price is meant to be $15 pesos, but he charged me and this other guy from the hostel $50 pesos, and then lied about it when we asked him and the finance guy. i didn't get anything back, but the other guy got $25 back, not quite everything but something, i just didn't want to piss off some local more than he probably already was. anyway, back to what i've done in the past week.
after the mountain tour in mendoza, i went on a cycling wine tour, it's the thing to do in mendoza. we went to maipu, and rented some bikes and went to the wineries, of the six in the area, only three were open, but that was enough for me. it was a 24km ride, 12km to the furthest one, and the ride back i guess, we started with that one, so that we wouldn't have to ride back so far if we got drunk. don't ask me which wine was best or not, i have no idea, but bodega carinae and bodega di tommaso had the smallest portions, while the third we went to, el cerno, gave us full glasses, very nice. three of us missed out on the chocolate and liqueur shop, which we heard was really good, oh well. then i spent three days at the hostel doing nothing, i hope to get back to mendoza later in the trip, so hopefully i will do some mountain trekking later.
i arrived in cordoba on wednesday with one mission on my mind, to go sky diving. i went in yesterday, but they said there was too much wind, and they'd call back in the afternoon if the weather cleared up. otherwise, i'd jump early the next morning, well they never called, and finally i asked the girl at the hostel reception to call, and find out, and they decided to pick me up. got there, and there were a bunch of people already jumping, and i was wondering why, after ripping me off, they didn't call me earlier (probably a good thing, cos i had a bit of a hangover). then i had to wait a couple hours for the wind to ease up, then i went, and it was crazy. the feeling when the door opens, and then when you free fall, it's just the biggest rush ever. my stats, free fall for 30 seconds, top speed, 194 kmh, and height of 2580m. i'll upload the video to youtube later when i get home i think, and more of the pictures later too. so i haven't done anything really in cordoba (i saw a bit of the downtown the other day), hopefully i can get on some kind of tour tomorrow, and see something in the area.
that's me for now, i am going to salta tomorrow night, and then on to bolivia, i'll probably be in bolivia for my next post, i hope they have computers there.
picture of me during free fall, i asked the guy if he could get a picture of my sneakers where my name is, but it didn't quite work out.
