saw the british action comedy, hot fuzz, made by the same guys that did "shaun of the dead", which i thought was pretty funny. so i was hoping this would be similar in good fun and funny-ness. i liked the film, it wasn't as funny (laugh out loud style) that i thought it was going to be, but it was good. it sort of seemed like they were making fun of this guy for being too serious, but sort of not. the main character, nicholas angel, is a super cop, that is transferred from london because he makes everyone else look bad; he is sent to a small town (sandford) in the country where there is no crime.
there, he has to come to terms with being a big cop in a small town. there is a conspiracy, as well as a brainwashed/ignorant population in the town, and they all think he's crazy. there are a few murders in town, which the rest of the police force try to claim as accidents, while nicholas suspects otherwise. he finally discovers the reality that is behind the village, and tries to expose it.
with the help of his partner, danny, and eventually, the rest of the police department, they succeed in foiling the crooks, and reclaiming the town. the end battle scene is the best part of the film, and helps make the film better, if not for it, it would be closer to average than good. good film, prolly something like a 6.5-7.5 out of 10.
