well, i said i'd get a digital slr, and now i've gone out and done it. i finally decided on the k100d, due to it's shake reduction, allegedly quality lenses, good sensitivity, and other assorted features. it was a bit of a hassle getting it though no one in melbourne seemed to have the 16-45mm smc da lens i wanted (especially for a short trip to the grampians this weekend). so i found someone in sydney that did, and ordered it down last saturday. i waited till wednesday for the camera before calling them, they told me, that they didn't have the body. i was about to go out and (try to) buy the body locally, but they managed to get it shipped out yesterday, and it arrived today.
i was frantically calling the shipping company, trying to see if it had arrived (obviously i had to get it today, as i am leaving tomorrow, and also it's good friday). for some reason, on the shipping company web site, it said that the recipient was not home when it was arrived. i got home, thinking that i had to go out and pick it up from the warehouse, but the box was here, with everything in it.
unfortunately, i won't get a chance to try any practice shots in daylight until i'm already at the grampians really, so i'm just gonna have to get to know the camera indoors in fluorescent lighting (not this lens' strongest environment i think) for now. i really hope i can take some decent photos from the scenic grampians area. i'll make sure to take my fuji f30 just in case
. i really hope that i don't find it too difficult to handle this thing, just be patient and it'll come.
anyways, i'm too excited to type anymore, i'll leave you with a crappy photo i took of myself, the lighting is crap, and all the other settings are probably wrong, but that'll come with time i'm sure. i do plan to grab myself the smc da 50-200 telephoto zoom before going to new zealand later this year, and also, maybe the fa 50mm f1.4 prime. hopefully i'll know how to work the camera by then
.
