new wireless shutter

new wireless shutter

3rd-jan-2008 - posted by dtra

this time, hopefully, it's the real deal, i ordered this one off ebay on boxing day i think, and it just arrived today, pretty fast i guess. this one is from hong kong, like the last one, but this one acts like a (remote) cable switch, so pretty much whatever you can do holding the camera, you can do with the remote (regarding the shutter button at least). this one actually supports bulb, and it actually means that i don't have to hold the button down for as long as i want the exposure (meaning a bit of shake). i hold the button for a couple seconds in bulb mode, the shutter opens, then i can release and click again to close the shutter. i can even take photos in continuous (not much good) and auto bracketing (cool) modes.

it took me a bit to work out how to get it working, but i got it, don't even need line of sight of the camera (well, i'm not sure how hidden i can be), but certainly the range is much better than my wireless remote, and also i don't have to be in sight of the infra-red signal. supposedly, the range is up to 100m, will have to give that a go sometime smiley, won't know if the camera's got focus though. the little channel buttons are pretty hard to move, need a toothpick or something. but it's looking good, bulb exposures, and cool poser pictures from far away, here i come.

i promise it'll be the last thing i buy for my camera for a while (at least a couple months) smiley. here's a 67 second bulb shot i took of a tree in the neighbour's backyard (even with noise reduction there are some dead pixels smiley).
